    1937

    Founding of the company
    On 16th. January 1937, the following entry appears in the Burbach official registry: Fritz Schäfer – manufacture of metal goods of all kinds.
    The first products were manufactured in the cellar of the house he lived in.

    1948

    Relocating the business
    The change to series production for transport boxes meant that the original production facilities soon became too small and so operations were transferred to the old “Dorfwiese” (village green) in Neunkirchen-Salchendorf in 1948.

    1951

    Four brothers all pulling together
    The four sons, Hans, Gerhard, Manfred and Theo Schäfer take on the management of the young enterprise in 1951. In addition to their manufacturing operations, they decide to expand the retail business.

    The EMW
    In December, the EMW, Ironmongers and Hardware Dealers, is founded: “Trading with industrial raw materials and products of all kinds.”

    1962

    The "Pfannenberg"
    Take over of the former iron ore mine “Pfannenberger Einigkeit". “Pfannenberg GmbH” is founded.

    The EMW
    The EMW Steel-Service-Centre relocates to the Pfannenberg site in rebuilt factory halls.

    1969

    SCHÄFER WERKE GMBH
    The activities of the "Pfannenberg GmbH" are continnued and devoloped by the newly founded SCHÄFER WERKE GMBH. The Company has its head office on the Pfannenberg in Neunkirchen in the Siegerland. At three production sites, around 900 employees work to maintain the company’s success.

    The company now operating under the name “SCHÄFER WERKE GMBH” builds an administration building and extensions to the production facilities on the Pfannenberg site.

    1980

    Perforated Metal
    Production of perforated metal is begun.

    Perforated Metals

    1984

    Investment in another perforation press to secure the continuous extension of the production range. SCHÄFER Perforated Metal is now increasingly producing for external demand in the processing industry.

    1986

    Optimizing by Synergy
    The production area at SCHÄFER Perforated Metal is extended to meet the growing demand. From now on, perforated metal is manufactured in close proximity to EMW, the company’s own Steel Service Centre. This further optimises material flow and guarantees fast processing times.

    1996

    Certification
    In September of this year, SCHÄFER Perforated Metal quality management system receives DIN EN ISO 9001 certification for the first time as a business area of SCHÄFER WERKE. 

    2005

    Restructuring
    Withdrawal from the radiator market.
    Perforated metal production is extended in the facilities vacated by SCHÄFER Heating Technology.

    2011

    Perforation patterns
    SCHÄFER Perforated Metal meanwhile produces more than 400 different perforation patterns in all current market grades.
    SCHÄFER Perforated Metal constantly invests in machines and equipment, as well as in employee development, to remain a step ahead of market demands. Satisfied customers and employees of long standing show that this strategy is successful.
